Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is native to Brazil, growing immersed and submersed along shores of streams. Forms low-stature, dense, green foreground lawns when supplied sufficient lighting and CO2. Recommended to provide full light, not shade. Thrives with regular fertilization of nitrate, phosphate, potassium and micro nutrients. Compact growth along rhizome with dense grass-like leaves. Common planting technique involves small bunches/clumps inserted into substrate in checkerboard pattern, a few centimeters apart. In several months plant will form foreground carpet. Capable of invasive growth, will require regular pruning. Clippings can be used for propagation in additional aquariums. Tolerates low salt concentration in brackish water tanks.
